Happy Birthday, Rachel!

I know I sent you a goodie box but I am sorry you weren't able to share these with us too --
I decided to make some rolls since we had extra people here this week and we didn't eat all of the potatoes the other day. For fun, and since I had left over whipping cream from the Valentine truffles recipe, I made some of them into Carmel Rolls, the way Gramma Laura used to make them. I have tried this before but skimped on ingredients (using milk instead of cream) so they were never quite right. I had to hurry to get them raised and into the oven and back out before we had to leave for the airport this morning, but they turned out perfect! Don't skimp on ingredients if you want good stuff! Ben even waited until I got back from the airport to eat any of them. There are regular cinnamon rolls but nobody is interested in them yet.

Lou is in El Paso for the next couple of days, at a meeting for Augsburg Churches and to listen to Jim Nestingen speak there on Sunday. Yesterday Ben and Kit were in Lynden all day for "chopper school." I guess if you pay big bucks for a new(ish) chopper you need to go learn about how it works. Yesterday was a nice sunny day, and today was back to foggy, overcast, and cool. I wish it would make up its mind! Well, no, I wish we could get on with the sunshine and spring temps.
