Welcome to Civilian Life

Congratulations and best wishes to Jason who was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army yesterday morning and is now just a regular guy. Well, he's a veteran, which is a special category of regular, I guess. He wasted no time getting checked out early in the day, and after lunch here yesterday on the way by, he and Taco are headed for Tennessee, hoping to meet the moving van filled with their stuff on Saturday (as scheduled). Then he'll be flying back to Spokane on Sunday, where Rachel will meet him with their other vehicle and they will travel together cross country to their new home, seeing some sights along the way. The Army doesn't move cars, but they'll pay them to drive them themselves.

So far he's locked the keys in the car (yesterday at our house) and had a flat --shredded -- tire (today in Montana). So not a flawless trip, but nothing major like hitting a deer (which he said there are a lot of in MT). Too bad the spare tire and jack are at the bottom of the fully packed trunk!

My parents also came through the area on Tuesday and ought to be arriving today at Mom's 50th Class Reunion in Minot, ND. We met them on Tuesday morning in Ritzville for a piece of pie at Perkins on their way through the state.
