Garden Party

Today I went to a Tea and Luncheon. That was the theme of Cassie Duchow's baby shower at LeAnn's house this afternoon. We were asked to wear our favorite hat ... do I have a hat? I found an old old white wide-brimmed visor-type hat that has been bumping around here for years, put a flower on the front of it to cover up the label, and used that. Since the flower matched my purple sweater I was wearing, it turned out a little coordiated, even. There were lots of ladies in the side yard under the walnut trees when I arrived (20 minutes late because I got behind just before lunch), all dressed for a Garden Party. The tables had nice tablecloths on them, the centerpieces were cute stuffed animals hugging roses floating in glass globes, and each table had a teapot and teacups/saucers. I think one of Cassie's sisters had a collection, and actually put it to use. It was pretty fun, and a Wonderful Day for it, weather-wise. Too bad I don't have any pictures. After my hectic morning (sort pigs, mow lawn, breakfast, check email, take new phone battery to Ben on chopper, make lunch, make last gift I hadn't gotten to yet, wrap gifts, change clothes, fix my party hat), it was so nice to just sit out in the shaded yard and visit for a few hours. I even came home with a box of tomatoes from LeAnn's garden. She is a wonderful gardener -- raspberries, watermelon, several varieties of tomatoes, flowers, applies, pie cherries, walnuts ... I like raw tomatoes so they will be my treat snack this week. Now to go out and finish mowing the grass.

Next weekend I'll be at another baby shower, for our godson's wife and their first baby also due in November; that one is in Aloha, OR. But first I need to sew the baptismal gown I promised ... good thing they go quickly. The hard part is trying to find the fabric I want in town here and any nice laces are even more impossible to locate. They thought having Kevin's godmother sew his daughter's baptismal gown would be neat. And I do enjoy how they turn out.
