The big 5-0

No, it's not someone's birthday. Yesterday was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. They requested "no big party" and to drive home their point, are not even home themselves. They have been in North Dakota visiting family, friends, and attending mom's 50th high school reunion.

And so my sisters and I organized a "card shower" for them. I am anxious to hear how it worked out. Patterned after what Ann did years back for Louis' 70th birthday, we accumulated names of friends, relatives, former co-workers, neighbors, etc. -- anyone who knows or knew them over these past 50 years that we could think of -- and sent them a little note. We asked them to send a card, letter, or little note, maybe a photo if it's been a long time, to Mom and Dad to wish them well on their anniversary. I have no idea how it's going, if they are getting many returns or not. If they had their mail held while they are out of town, there may be quite a stack to pick up with they return. At least I hope so.

(edit: my goal of 50 cards wasn't quite hit, but there were well over 40 received, so lots of nice surprises, and they saw so many others on their trip, too).
