Last week I spent time with the girls, and this week is Nicholas' week with Grammie (two days). Kelli has been getting calls from her school teacher friends for substitute jobs. As three of them are now pregnant and will be having doctors' appointments each month, the calls have come more often. This week she took two days, Tuesday and Thursday. He does pretty well here, keeps busy in the cupboards or dishwasher, or outside, and he even slept 2 hours for an afternoon nap yesterday.
Ben, of course, is still trying to finish the longest chopping season ever. Unfortunately the breakdown season has hit full force, for chopper and trucks, prolonging the end. Poor guy, he's getting awfully tired -- poor Kelli and Nicholas, too, since they don't get to see much of him. Nicholas will need to get used to being at our house in preparation for next month when he'll be here 8 or 9 days while mommy and daddy take a much-needed vacation to Hawaii.
You just forget how "on" your brain has to be 100% of the time to be sure the little guy doesn't get into something or fall down the stairs; my legs were even tired last night from walking (following him) around the house or outside all day, instead of sitting at this computer like usual ... but he's fun to have around. And he likes me :o) Not so sure about that Papa (Lou) in the dirty overalls, though. He makes funny faces and even odder noises!
