Big News on the Homefront

I am behind, as usual, on posting to the blog, so now I have a couple of items of Big News to report. I think, instead of writing about all of it in one post, or writing a bunch that will just get lost if posted all on one day, I will just make a quick note of them here and elaborate in coming posts in the next few days. I promise.

So, in chronological order:

1. On May 18th, Lou accepted the call of the congregation as pastor at our 3-year old church. On July 10th, Rev. Dr. Jim Nestingen and Rev. George Putnam will conduct a public examination of Lou as candidate for ordination at 4:00 pm, followed by the ordination service at 5:00 pm, and reception to follow at the ML Christian Academy Event Center.
The question, in fine Lutheran form, is "What does this mean?" More soon.

2. New grandson, Eli Kenneth, was born Wednesday June 16 to Ben and Kelli. Thank the Lord for a healthy baby and a quick, relatively smooth delivery! Nicholas is thrilled to finally be able to hold the baby he's been talking about (and talking to) for months.
-- And because I can't not include a picture or two for Lou's dad (who doesn't have Facebook where pictures have been posted so far), here are a couple from when we visited Wednesday evening, about 4 hours after he was born:
