Our Christmas, part 2: Christmas Day 2009

After the nice Christmas Eve Crab dinner, we were invited back to Ben and Kelli's house for Christmas Day brunch and gift opening. Here is Nicholas helping his Gram Deb mix up the egg dish for the brunch (which I realized I had incorrectly posted on my Christmas Eve entry yesterday so I'll move it here now)While the brunch food was baking we moved on to the gifts. With Nicholas being the only kid in attendance this year and his being only 2.5 years old and not *quite* understanding the gift thing yet, it took him a little while to get his gifts opened. He was just so happy that all of us had come to his house again! He started with the gift from Santa (a train set!) Then Lou helped Kelli pass out the rest of the gifts from under the tree.Nicholas was so into playing with his train set that it took a while for us to coax him away from that to address his other gifts, so his pile sat there ignored, waiting for him to come back and open them up.
Eventually he got that pile all opened but we saved the big one for last, knowing that once it got opened he would lose all interest in anything else for quite a while. Jason and Rachel sent this and it was one of the big hits of the day! She assures us it was a screamin' deal that she couldn't pass up, and I have to say Rachel really got her bang for the buck shopping online the day after Thanksgiving.

Sorry this video is sideways -- a bad habit. I always forget that I can't rotate video once it's filmed like I can photos.

It was a very relaxed holiday, especially for me -- other than making some rolls for Christmas Eve dinner, I just got to eat and watch the fun! Thanks for being such a good hostess, Kelli!
