It's who you know

Dayna and the girls visited us for a couple of days this past week -- a bit of a business trip for Dayna, as she and Amy presented Mary Kay products at the local MOPS group on Thursday. It was Pamper Yourself day or something similar, I think. We had a good time now that we are all over the colds, and they spent a day with Renae too. Nicholas came to visit here a few times and they went to his house one afternoon, too. On Saturday afternoon Ben took us all to Paul's pig farm to see newborn pigs (Danelle was calling the 60+ lb-ers we have here 'baby pigs') and to a dairy to see new calves and how the milking parlor works. I will post photos tomorrow.

We went to a hockey game last night at the new arena in Wenatchee. They have their own team now, the Wenatchee Wild -- I'm not sure what league they play in but it's not the same as Spokane and TriCities (which is WHL). We were offered 5 tickets on Friday from a farmer who has season tickets but couldn't go last night. Unfortunately that meant we sort of rushed out of here and left Dayna and the girls still packing for going back home ... someday we'll all go to hockey together! As it turned out, these were primo seats up on the upper deck (where the boxes are) -- individual leather desk chair type seats with a countertop in front of us and great views. Lou and I, Ben and Kelli, and Kit were the 5, and Nicholas got in for free and sat on our laps. [Funny comment: when we all got into the van together Nicholas said "beach!" -- last time he rode with everyone in our van was New Years' at Netarts! He said it again after the game. One can always try.] He did pretty well for his first hockey game -- he was not sure about the loud cheering but liked the lights and the funny intermission characters they had this time. He also noticed he could make as much noise as he wanted (yelling, screaming, pounding on the countertop) and it didn't matter much. I think if all 3 kids had been there with that much energy it might have been impossible for them to stay seated, or even closeby -- there was sort of a large area behind that would have been too fun to run around. It was a fun time, the home team won, and we were glad Russ thought of us! We felt sort of important up there and we are now pretty spoiled to return to regular hockey seats. No pictures -- didn't think to bring the camera, or try to use my phone cam either... duh. Maybe we'll get another chance someday :o)
