Boo!

Happy Halloween!I likely won't get to post again before Saturday night, so I will be a bit early for a change.

One week from today we will be on our way to Istanbul. I am not looking forward to the long overnight flight -- I don't sleep well on planes and always seem to get the "middle" seat of 5 in the center of the big planes ... But in the past I have managed the first day of our trips without sleep running on adrenaline or something. And so I have this week to prepare and finish up whatever business needs finishing.

Lou has been putting the miles on our new van the past two weeks. Well, as usual, not NEW, but a nicer one than we've had for a while. He is driving around the PNW visiting with as many managers of local co-ops as possible in the hopes that they might support his candidacy for the Cenex-Harvest States national board from this region. It will truly be a different thing for him, but he loves that sort of challenge and the Connell Grain Grower board that he's been part of for several years now nominated him and thinks he has a decent shot at it. We'll know in December when we go to Minneapolis to the CHS annual meeting. It is something he wants to do and Ben is supportive even though it will mean Lou will be away from the farm for approx. 100 days/year for the next three years. This week he is in southern Idaho, his last trip out, but a full one.

Remember to set clocks back on Saturday night!
