What a difference a day makes. Our big snowpiles have been melted away by warmer temperatures (45) and warm SW breezes -- the Pineapple Express, they call them. The snow isn't all gone yet but if we get another day like the last one they will soon be. Puddles are everywhere but not as bad as I thought they'd be. Seems most of the melt off is going into the ground and we didn't get any additional rain here. I can't say the same thing for the mountain pass areas ... all passes are closed today due to dangerous conditions (avalanche, slides, flooding). It sounds like we will have 3-4 dry and mild days this weekend, and then it's rumored there is another cold mass coming for next week. Keith said that Alex said it was 43 below in Fairbanks, AK where he lives, and so Keith predicts we'll get that frigid cold again in 2 weeks or less.
