This Christmas came and went even quicker than most. I skipped Black Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend when most people do their online shopping, apparently while at work) and got semi-serious about Christmas on Dec. 8th when I did some online shopping of my own, covering most of the nieces and nephews. I just can't do Christmas unless it feels like Christmas, and usually a nice frozen fog or light snow will get me there. Somewhere in there, we got a little frozen fog day. I made some fudge. I took the pickup to town and got a tree later that week. I ordered photo cards (procrastinators get them for 1/2 price!) and I wrote my annual newsletter. Good start. Our hired man, Angel, left on Dec. 12 for a month long visit with his parents in Mexico, and I had to spend more time helping with the pigs. Then it started snowing, which slows things down considerably as far as shopping goes. My tree got snowed on as I had left it outside for a couple of days... So much for my good start. I brought the tree in the house, set it in the stand, and let it thaw out. After I mopped up the considerable puddle it produced in the entryway, I moved it to the LR and put some stuff on it: blue lights, GrGramma Putnam's crocheted snowflakes, and several of my homemade things, along with red and silver balls and a new star topper from eBay. It is a nicely shaped tree, a Noble fir but fuller than they usually are. Final product:

I don't plan to take it down until about January 6 or so.
Here is how I displayed this years' cards and photos we received:

When my photo cards (100 of them) got here I had to finish my letter and get them (about 90) sent out.
My printer decided to run out of ink just then, and left streaks on every page I tried to print after I refilled it, so that delayed my final printing until I could buy new ink. Most of them went out on time, but there were about 15 that had to wait until Dec. 26th ... I just couldn't get back to them once I stopped. The holiday really began on Dec. 20 when Dayna, Shane, Danelle, and Thea arrived. The snow continued to fall, both in Kirkland and Moses Lake, but they made it through the pass during a little break in the weather. We had tiny little dry flakes that blew around and made drifts during the night and wasn't good for making snowmen but wasn't bad to drive on.
Temps were 5-10 degrees for several days in there. It has been a chilly one this year, and having a White Christmas has sort of lost its appeal. But it did feel like Christmas!
