Election Day

This is by far the best statement I have read re: this election day, from a Lutheran pastor in Wisconsin who used to live in Washington (so we have met him, but briefly, once or twice):

"By the way, everyone go vote... But remember that this is NOT the most important election of your lifetime; that was your Baptism!"
-- Pastor Tony Stoutenberg, Grace Lutheran Church, Hayward, Wisconsin

I heard on the radio this morning that "there will be a lot of unhappy people after this particular election," but they didn't mean due to the results of the election. They meant there are so many people who have become election news junkies in recent months, following the campaigns and CNN and all the talking heads, that they will have nothing to do or think about for a while (until they find their next obsession). To them I say "get a life." Goodness, regardless of who is elected (although I have my preferences, of course!), I will be so glad to be done with the political campaigning and TV commercials and mailings once election day is past. Well, until 6 months from now when they start again for the mid-term elections ... ugh. But I shall enjoy it while it lasts!
