And this is how I thought it would go -- before I know it, another week has passed by and I haven't posted here...
The post I should have done on Sunday --
Happy Mother's Day!
Today is a busy day for us, it is confirmation day at church. Lou has been teaching the class of three with one adult every Sunday night (when we are home) since last fall. They had had one year of instruction at the other church but couldn't be there with that pastor anymore, and confirmation was important enough to form this class. It was a great experience and he really enjoyed having Terry as a co-leader. She thought she was taking catechism class, and it was, but she also ended up in a co-teaching role and it worked out better that way. All the parents were trying to figure out what it was that made their kids WANT to come in Sunday evenings for class. I think part of it is that they are all friends; whatever it was, a good time was had by all and the even learned some things.
After our confirmation service (with 86 people in a room that holds about 75 comfortably) we all went out to the Odegaard home for a potluck lunch and fellowship. It was a great day. A little less clouds and breeze would have been better, but it was nice enough. We need to do more of that sort of thing, they said at the meeting last night, so are aiming for once/month "something" together, fellowship opportunities. If we do it every other month, it will be an improvement.
Dayna, Shane, and Danelle were over here for the weekend, their last trip before "baby day." I am anxious to see who she is -- they have a name picked out mostly, but aren't telling. We know it's not the one Ben and Kelli have for theirs if they have a girl next, and it's not the one Tanya was considering for her girl due in August, so that is good. If they use it, it starts with a T. Hmmmmmmm, now we can start speculating. Danelle is doing well with her glasses and is becoming quite the little girl. I think she will be a lot of help to Dayna -- she is the center of attention now because she can be, but once there is a baby, I think she will step up and do the Big Sister thing just fine. Might borrow her pacifiers once in a while, tho ...
And so that is what I did on Mother's Day.

And the post for today:
They are saying it is to be 80 degrees today but I don't see it. Still pretty overcast looking out there, but then I haven't been outside either. I ought to mow the grass, it is growing, but first I need a couple of new tires on the riding mower, or I will have to use the bagger walk-behind mower (which maybe isn't a bad idea this time since the grass is fairly long already). Then they are predicting in the 90s for the weekend -- we'll see.
I am still working on getting my checking accounts moved from the one bank to the new one. I decided after 21 years with this bank (and several bank name changes later) that this latest round of policy changes at the bank is not compatible with the way I do my banking. It worked well for years and years, but now they changed on me and can't have any exceptions. Banking being a competitive business, well, as long as there is a bank that can continue to do it the way I have always done it, I will go there and reward good business policy and common sense. Sorry Key Bank, WAMU serves my needs better. But that means closing two business checking accounts, changing the automatic debit information on the college loans and Farm Credit Services and Farm Service Agency paperwork, etc... and cleaning out the safe deposit box and moving that all over too, letting the checks all clear and then closing them. It ought to be getting close to the time to do it finally (I've been working on it for a month) .... and then I need to write a letter to tell them why they lost me. Penny wise and pound foolish, I think it goes -- someone thought these new policies would save money or make more money for the bank, and they call it "security" reasons. But a bounced check because they hold the funds for 24 hours is still a bounced check, and they tell me they hold them "to be sure they're good so none of [my] checks bounce" -- huh?
So that is what I will be finishing up this week.
Moses Lake measles update -- three new cases last Friday, from the roller rink in Soap Lake. I think the home school kids may have gone there or something -- they have a lot of time to go places like that as part of their PE curriculums. The quarantine time at the Christian school ends May 21, I think; so far no new cases there, much to their relief. We can meet there on Sundays, and evening meetings like last night, but not during or after school without proof of immunization on file. I have no proof that I know of... a rubella titer from 28 years ago, so it can be assumed I was once immunized against measles since they don't immunize for rubella by itself, maybe. It has been interesting for the community though, to go through this.
Don't Miss Out!

Wait, who's starts with a T? Dayna's, Tanya's, or Ben and Kelli's? :)
