Hogs in the Yard

Nothing says WAKE UP! quite like the sound of a pig (hog) running past the open bedroom window at 4:45 AM. That was this morning. It's been a while since we've had that experience -- a little bonus for having our bedroom on the bottom floor so the windows are right at ground level -- and for that I am thankful. Also that it was this morning that they decided to take a hike, about 15 of them, and not yesterday so that we were greeted by them last night as we got home from a day away from the farm. And so today will be my longest summer day, with a couple extra hours that I am awake, rather than Saturday. A habit I ought to get back into, earlier risings.
They went back in fairly well, hung together as a group so we didn't have to chase one crazy one all over, and Omar even showed some decent herding qualities this morning. And I got to ride the new 4-wheeler for the first time.

Ben decided several weeks ago that getting a new 4wheeler might be a good thing, even though we have 2 farm ones and one spare, plus his dune bike sitting around here. The oldest Honda one has begun to show some pretty good wear and has to be kick-started too, and he wanted to sell it before it completely lost all value. So last week he called and order the new one and picked it up, all shiny and red. When the other one gets the new tires on, we'll be in pretty good shape again.

We were in Kirkland/Bothell yesterday for Rachel Huey and Michael Chenoweth's wedding. We were trying to figure out how long we've known the Hueys and it has to be about 28 or 29 years now ... I remember when Val was pregnant with Diana and she's 27. Good friends from way back in PS' Couples in Christ group at Trinity in Hillsboro, so always nice to spend a few hours together even if it's a crazy, hectic day. For them, not for us. We got to visit Danelle and her parents Saturday afternoon, out for dinner, and overnight, then to church Sunday morning before the wedding, so it was a pretty nice weekend for us.
